Posted on 21 February 2016 by Danny

Shopping at Fashion Island at Newport Beach and can’t decide on what to have for lunch?  Look no further as Roy’s Restaurant has opened it’s lunchtime doors Monday thru Friday!  Renowned for their Pacific Rim inspired cuisine, Roy’s Newport Beach is located just off Newport Center Drive on the Macy’s side.

Their new lunch menu has dishes starting at just $8.90 and include classic Roy’s Restaurant signature plates such as the Wagyu Beef Burger and Maui Wowie Shrimp Salad. You can also look forward to new creations like the Seared Ahi Salad, Hibachi Grill Salmon and the Kalua Pork Sandwich.  Lastly, every location has unique local lunch creations courtesy of that restaurant’s head chef.

Roy’s Grilled Mongolian Chicken Salad starts off my lunch.  It’s topped with crispy wontons, candied pecans, cabbage, and dressed with sesame shoyu.

One of the unique dishes that chef John Vega has brought Roy’s Newport Beach is “Szechuan” Calamari.  It’s dressed with Candied Macadamia Nut, Serrano Peppers and a Sweet Thai Chili Glaze.

Lobster Potstickers are a unique way to have my favorite crustacean.  It’s served with spicy togarashi miso butter sauce and onion shoyu dressed slaw.

Sweet glorious fall off the bone ribs.  Ah yes.  Roy’s Szechuan Spiced Pork Ribs are smoked and glazed in mongolian sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds.  So good.

Roy’s Broccolini serves as a well needed vegetable interlude.  Chilled and served with Japanese miso dressing and toasted sesame seeds.

I couldn’t turn down the Wagyu Beef Burger could I?  Of course not.  It’s topped with caramelized onions, togarashi aioli and a fried egg.  I mean, what could be better for cleaning that runny yolk off your plate than a side of crispy golden fries?

Lunch at Roys is something I will definitely do again.  The relaxed vibe, beautiful decor and great service makes the experience that much better.
