Tripe and Beef Tendon. Who’s in??!! That question normally gets greeted with the sound of crickets. But for me, this stuff is delicious. And no, I didn’t grow up eating this stuff. I took it upon myself to try these tasty things in my twenties and never looked back. So when I see them on a menu prepared in a way I’ve never had, gotta go for it. Such is the case at A&J Restaurant in Irvine. A Taiwanese place where decor and ambiance take a backseat and it’s all about the food.
Their Sliced Beef Tripe with Hot Red Sauce is served chilled and actually not that hot. Still great.
Their Spicy Beef Tendon Noodle Soup is great with a broth that is filled with flavorful Chinese Five Spice which I love. Beef Tendon melts in your mouth when simmered for a long time. Its good stuff and I wish it were tried by more people.
This is my first time at AJ Restaurant and I really liked it. Definitely coming back when I’m in this part of the OC.
