Sushi Gesshin in Westminster

I love this place for it’s great sushi, reasonable prices and Beatles loving sushi chef. With a combination like that, who wouldn’t love it?
Sushi Gesshin is located on Beach Blvd next to Pavillions and is an anomaly in the sushi world. As most of us know, good sushi places can be pricey. It’s not the case here. I stop off for a quick lunch to satisfy my monkfish liver hankering. Yes, I’m weird but more on that later.
Their sushi chef, Hachi, a self proclaimed Beatles nut with leanings towards Lennon starts off the meal with a complimentary braised eggplant starter. I don’t know what he does to it but it’s good stuff.
Oh the sweet taste of Giant Clam, otherwise known as Geoduck clam. In it’s whole form, you might know it as the clam that bears resemblance to Ron Jeremy.
Spicy Scallop Sushi overflowing from its nori cup is always good.
Oh yeah, if you’re a Beatles fan like I am, feel free to play Beatles trivia with Hachi. He’ll give you a run for your money.
I have an unhealthy obsession with monkfish liver ever since I discovered it 5 or so years ago. It’s creamy and deliciously served here with ponzu sauce.
To end on a sweet rich note, the ever popular unagi.
That was good. Thanks to Hachi, I suddenly have the urge to play “I Am the Walrus” on the way home. Could “Everybody F$@#ed Up” really be at the end of the song? The jury’s still out.
