A Tale of Food Trucks, Furniture Stores and a Rug Destroying Cat

When we moved into our home 3 years ago, we purchased a rug only to have it become another scratching post for our cat Westley. So a few weekends back, we decided to visit the store we got the rug to see if there were any rugs made with “cat friendly” material. Insert laughter here.
SOCO. Otherwise known as South Coast Collection. You’ve probably seen it off the 405 freeway at Harbor Blvd. It’s a string of furniture stores that have been completely revamped. Since it’s not readily accessible by a main street, one of the strategies they’ve employed to get people there is to host weekend Farmer’s Markets and Food Trucks.
We decide to pick up some food at a couple of food trucks. The first one is Taco Mario where we get their Jardinero Tacos which contain Shitake Mushrooms, Fava Beans, Refried Fava Beans, Queso Oaxaco, Epazote (a mexican herb). The health conscious hippie inside you says “thanks”.
Tacquitos filled with potato? Imagine the profit margin! Those brilliant bastards. But seriously, their Tacquitos de Papa are really good. They’re covered with a Toasted Cumin, Stinging Nettle Purree and a Meyer Lemon Crema.
Not quite full, we skip trucks to Home Skillet where we get their Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Capers, Red Wine Vinaigrette, Herbs. We didn’t set out to go all vege today, it just happened.
Well, we thought we found a rug that would be stratch resistant. The store even let us take a smaller sample to see what would happen. We thought wrong. Fortunately, we stopped the cat after one swipe so no damage was done. So the futile search continues.
