Sizzling Galbi Short Ribs served with Bubbling Hot Tofu Soup

BCD Tofu House in Cerritos. Okay, its not in Orange County but it’s just a stones throw away. I’ve heard bad things about the service at their Garden Grove location. They’ve also got a location in Irvine that I’ve yet to go to. As for the one in Cerritos, I have nothing but good things to say as I’ve been there several times. So take the extra 10 or so minutes to drive outside the OC to have a better dining experience at this location.
I love Korean side dishes in all their spicy fermented glory. And they refill them should you want more. It’s a wonderful variety of hot, cold , crunchy, gelatinous, pickled . It’s all here. And we’re talking good quantities here. I mean, there’s a freaking whole fried fish included as one of the complimentary side dishes! An incredible value to say the least.
Their Seafood Tofu Soup is served in a bubbling stone bowl. Again, I like it because there’s a good variety of stuff such as oysters, shrimp and clams. While it looks like the cauldron from hell, it’s actually just the coloring. However, if hell cauldrons are your thing, you can just ask them to make it spicy.
I love Korean Galbi Short Ribs. It’s the sweet soy marinade that makes it so tasty. They serve it on a sizzling bed of onions that continue to caramelize during the meal as they’re seared with the drippings from the meat.
